Kiwisport Reflection - SNAG Golf

In the first block the year 8's had Kiwisport. This time it wasn't basketball(BOOHOO!) but instead it was SNAG Golf. SNAG stands for Starting  New At Golf.

Sadly we didn't really get to use a proper golf ball or a proper golf club instead we had three tennis balls, a target, a hula hoop and two cones.  But just as we were getting into our tasks we had to run to the top courts and DROP, COVER, HOLD because if you didn't know well today, October 15th at 9:15am was the National(New Zealand ONLY) event for the earthquake drill. For more information about this click this link.

But anywho after doing the drill we ran back to the bottom courts and carried on with our kiwisports. We all got into groups of threes or fours. I was with my friends Maopa, Quitah and Lavinia(who came afterwards). We all took turns trying to aim for the target eventually we changed the target from getting it in the cones to putting it into the hula hoop. After how many attempts of getting it in we all at least got well I think once or twice. We also learnt new skills on how to aim for the target and how to position yourself too. But sometimes people will cheat and stand straight when they were suppose to stand sideways. It was great fun and I can't wait ford our next session.

New Zealand Shake Out Day!

Image result for drop cover hold
Greetings Humans Person(Got it off the movie Home...It's something Oh and his fellow boovs say..) today my class and myself learnt a little bit about an upcoming event that will be happening everywhere in New Zealand because well its a national(New Zealand only) event. This event is called the New Zealand Shake Out Day!

Each individual humans person in my school will be participating in this event which will be happening on the 15th of October at 9:15am. You must be thinking why is this happening?...Well because in 2011 a huge earthquake struck Christchurch leaving many people injured and sadly to death too. So that is why we need to practice these drills to keep ourselves safe.

We will all and I mean ALL at 9:15am, DROP, COVER AND HOLD!
Here is a few instructions from a site that can help you participate.
  • DROP down on your hands and knees. This position protects you from falling but allows you to still move if necessary.
  • COVER your head and neck (and your entire body if possible) under a sturdy table or desk (if it is no more than a few steps away from you). If there is no shelter nearby, get down near an interior wall (or next to low-lying furniture that won't fall on you), and cover your head and neck with your arms and hands.
  • HOLD on to your shelter (or your position to protect your head and neck) until the shaking stops. Be prepared to move with your shelter if the shaking shifts it around.
Also a fact is this event not only can be nationwide but Worldwide too! So I suggest that you practice this  drill at 9:15am on October the 15th because you won't be doing it alone but with A LOT of Humans Persons!
We should all participate in this event because it helps us learn what to do during an earthquake. For more information check out this site.
