Variations Key

Hello there, this is another Thinkers Key task but this time this is the Variations Key. For this key we have to think of different ways that would encourage others to show appropriate sideline behavior in our community.

Last day of the Term!!

Its the last day of school for term three. I thought time went past SOO FAST. I mean like it was like term one was only last week.
In the first block we all got some candy from our teacher for all the hard work we had done during the term. But poor Stan. He was standing behind a chair, looking at the candy and Ms Aireen. Ms Aireen then said

"Is someone near me?"

We all laughed but eventually had to go to the Somerville hall to clean up all the equipment and stuff from the Fiafia night.
All the year 8 and 7 students were scattered all over the school returning things to classes and rooms. Most of us were taking back chairs which was such a workout. Luckily I wasn't one of them because I had to sort out all the props from our production into different baskets....lei's go here...Fake fruit go here. It was fun sorting out the props.

Anywho after all of the equipment was returned back to school we all went back to our classes and packed it up for the holidays. As we cleaned we danced to different kinds of music and yes they played a Michael Jackson song I mean like c'mon they can't forget a Michael Jackson song well it was ABC by the Jackson 5. I was the only one singing but who cares.

After cleaning it was morning tea we all decided to stay in and watch Maze Runner. I thought the movie was cool, there was so much action. But man when I saw the maze I was just like........WOAH. I was speechless because well that was my first time watching the movie(I don't get time to watch movies.) We watched the movie for the whole middle block up until lunch time.
During lunch all the year 8 students played Bulrush. I got tagged a few times. It was so much fun. It was a great way to spend the last lunch time of the term.  As lunchtime was coming to an end all of the students from years 1 to 8 had to pick up rubbish around the school.

But later that day..
We went back to class and had a dance battle..boys vs girls. The girls were first, luckily me and a couple of my friends made up a dance routine to Hit the quan. After us it was the boys turn. Of course they didn't have a dance routine so we won. After a couple of dance battles all year 8 students did all the dance performances from the Fiafia night. We did bollywood dancing, ballet and much more. Our music teacher came and watched us as we fooled around dancing together. I loved it, our room was surrounded with smiles and laughter.
Sadly we had to stop because we had a last school assembly for the term.

That was my last day of the term reflection.

Fiafia Night......

Finally the night has come. My whole school was waiting for this day to come and it had finally come.
I get ready and wait for my good friend Mele to pick me up, we said a specific time but she didn't come so I just started to walk to school. I see her running towards me. We then go and pick up another friend, Ma'asi and then go straight to the Somerville Hall. I see Willy sitting down with a really cool shirt that reminded me of Rarotonga.
Me and Mele then go and get into our cultural outfits because well in the production Mele was playing Rata who happened to be my last minute Mother(It's a long story).
After getting dressed all actors and actresses met up on the stage for some last minute checks and rehearsals. Time was going past so slow...I was getting impatient. NEK MINIT .....It was then time to start, the nerves crept up my sleeves. I just wanted to get everything over and done with. So finally after the choir group performed it was our turn to perform our dance. I was so happy because I just love being on stage even though i'm shy I still love being on stage. Once we had finished doing our dance it was time to start the actual acting.

After saying a few of our lines and did our acting it was onto the next scene then the next then the next. While that was happening each performing arts group would come on do their performance then onto the next groups.
Personally my favourite performance would probably be the Bollywood Group. I just loved the beat of their music and the dance moves. It was sooo groovy and funky.

After about five scenes it was time for the intermission. Where we would take a break and go have some FOOD! Sadly I didn't get to even touch something from a stall because the Year 8 band had to entertain the community while they get there food. I was one of the singers. I also loved it. All my friends were cheering us on and one of my friends Jennifer tried to joke around and got paper and put it on me as if it was money, I eventually threw it back to her in front of everyone.

After the intermission it was back to the production. My family and I( Mele, Stanley and James) kept "Sailing" across the pacific passing through different islands. The last scene had come and it was when My family and I found our new home "AOTEAROA".

When the production was over I walked backstage and said to one of our teachers, "OH MY GOSH ITS FINALLY OVER HOORAY!!"
She laughed and said the same thing back to me too.
Everyone went home and probably in their heads thought, "MAN THIS WAS AWESOME!" because it truly was!

Mehi and Taynah - Tuakana Teina with Room 1

On Monday the whole school had Tuakana Teina which is a day where the senior students buddy up with a junior class and do fun activites. The class we had was Room 1 and my Buddy was Taynah. We both made healthy sandwiches and talked about how we can be healthy.
The highlight for me was getting to work with a younger student because they're just so fun and CUTE!

Mehi, Maopa, Lavinia and Quitah - Inquiry Presentation - Netball

This Term for Inquiry our topic was 'Practicing Peaceful Play'. So our class had to get into groups and present a presentation about a timeline of a sport. I worked with my classmates Maopa, Lavinia and Quitah. We chose to do Netball(As you can see). So here is the finished product.

Poetic Writing - Home Run

For writing our classes writing focus was Poems. We had to write about a sport and I chose to do softball. So as you can see below is my Descriptive Poem that I have written about Peaceful Play. Hope you enjoy my poem!
Home Run

It’s a Summer morning and the game is about to begin,
The final group chat before the game.

Sitting silently still,
Feeling the grass tickling my legs as I anxiously try to think of different ways to reach home base.
I step up to the plate, take a deep breathe and look straight into the pitcher's demanding eyes,
my stomach soon develops butterflies.
I start to question myself, “Will I hit the ball?.......
Will I even make it to the first base?”
I could see a slight smirk on the pitcher’s face while she launches the ball into mid air making it head straight to my bat  as fast as lightning then
WOOSH!

The ball goes zooming across the field while the bat flew right behind me.
I started to sprint towards the first base as fast as a cheetah while trying to not let the helmet fall off since it didn’t grip tightly on my head.
At the corner of my eye I see my team cheering me on from the sideline.

I passed the first base and start running towards the second base.
I see my opponents running towards me with the ball in their hands.

I up my game and start running even faster as if I’m running for my life.
I could see them getting closer and closer.
The suspense shocks straight through my whole body.

I pass the second base and onto the third.
The adrenaline all around my body makes me excited yet so determined to get to home base.
I pass the third base and start running for home base.
I feel anxious to get there.
I see the other team throw the ball to the backstop.
Pressure kicks in while I’m running.
I get closer and closer just like the ball in the air.
Three more steps and
KSHHHH!

I slide in just seconds before the backstop catches the ball.

I stand up with joy while trying to keep the victory in and just walk right to the back of the line.

Tongan Language Week

This week was Tongan Language so our class had to do some tasks related to Tongan Language week. One of the tasks I chose to do was to label Normal average house essentials and translate it to Tongan. Also at the end I added a few useful phrases, General Knowledge facts about Tonga and also a song and a link to a video of a Traditional Tongan Performance. I worked on this task with my classmates Deandra and Khorus.

Slodgeball by Mehi

This is a Google Drawing that I have created which shows a game that I created with my imagination called Slodgeball. Above shows the instructions of the game. Well first of all this is one of the tasks that my class had to do for Tuakana Teina. Hope you try out playing this game if you do have FUN!

Mehi and Teina - Tuakana Teina

Today my class had Tuakana Teina with Room's 1 and 2. For Tuakana Teina us year 8's had to use our imaginations and create a game that noone has created or played. The game I created is called Slodgeball. The instructions are in the presentation above. It was great fun playing with the students and some even said that our game was the BEST!
