New Zealand Shake Out Day!

Greetings Humans Person(Got it off the movie Home...It's something Oh and his fellow boovs say..) today my class and myself learnt a little bit about an upcoming event that will be happening everywhere in New Zealand because well its a national(New Zealand only) event. This event is called the New Zealand Shake Out Day!

Each individual humans person in my school will be participating in this event which will be happening on the 15th of October at 9:15am. You must be thinking why is this happening?...Well because in 2011 a huge earthquake struck Christchurch leaving many people injured and sadly to death too. So that is why we need to practice these drills to keep ourselves safe.

We will all and I mean ALL at 9:15am, DROP, COVER AND HOLD!
Here is a few instructions from a site that can help you participate.
  • DROP down on your hands and knees. This position protects you from falling but allows you to still move if necessary.
  • COVER your head and neck (and your entire body if possible) under a sturdy table or desk (if it is no more than a few steps away from you). If there is no shelter nearby, get down near an interior wall (or next to low-lying furniture that won't fall on you), and cover your head and neck with your arms and hands.
  • HOLD on to your shelter (or your position to protect your head and neck) until the shaking stops. Be prepared to move with your shelter if the shaking shifts it around.
Also a fact is this event not only can be nationwide but Worldwide too! So I suggest that you practice this  drill at 9:15am on October the 15th because you won't be doing it alone but with A LOT of Humans Persons!
We should all participate in this event because it helps us learn what to do during an earthquake. For more information check out this site.
